Bellingham Heating & Cooling — Bellingham's Energy Savings Team

Bellingham & Whatcom County

Book an estimate

One question on this form decides more money than everything else on it: what heats your home today. Electric baseboard or wall heaters and you are in line for $1,500 from Puget Sound Energy. A gas furnace in Bellingham and there is currently no PSE conversion rebate at all. Answer it and we can tell you where you stand before anyone drives out.

  • Same-business-day callback during regular hours.
  • Load calculation, then a fixed written price.
  • Rebates checked against the program rules, not assumed.

What happens after you hit submit

  1. We call you back

Usually the same business day, from the number above. It is a real conversation, not a script: what you have now, what is bothering you, roughly what the fix costs, and whether a rebate applies. Plenty of these calls end with us telling you the job is smaller than you thought.

Your part: Answer the phone, or tell us in the form when you would rather be called.

  2. A visit and a load calculation

We measure the house: envelope, windows, insulation, ductwork if there is any, and the electrical panel. Then we run the heating and cooling load against Bellingham's 19°F outdoor design temperature — colder than Seattle's 24°F — and size equipment on its capacity at 5°F rather than its nameplate.

Your part: Give us access to the panel, the crawlspace or attic if reachable, and every room you want conditioned.

  3. A fixed written quote

One number, in writing, with the equipment model, the zone layout, who performs the electrical work, the mechanical permit, and every rebate you actually qualify for with the program rules attached. If a rebate is contractor-gated we say so instead of assuming it.

Your part: Compare it line for line against anything else you have. Ask what is not in it.

  4. Install, permit, inspection, commissioning

We pull the mechanical permit, do the work, meet the inspector, and record the commissioning readings — vacuum, charge, superheat and subcooling — so the system starts life at its rated efficiency rather than approximately near it.

Your part: Be reachable on install day. Most single-zone jobs are one day.

The estimate terms

Estimates carry a $89.99 trip charge, and it is refunded as company credit when you accept the bid. So if you hire us, the visit effectively costs you nothing; if you do not, we were paid for the hour of work we did at your house.

We keep it because "free estimates" are not free — they are priced into every install a company sells, and they push a business to send a closer rather than a technician. A small refundable fee means the person at your door can measure a house, open a panel and tell you not to buy something.

Phone advice is free. If we can answer your question at (360) 592-3824 without driving out, that is a better outcome for both of us.

Have these four things ready

None of them are required. All of them make the first conversation shorter and the quote tighter.

A recent electric bill
Twelve months of usage tells us what your current heating actually costs and gives you a real number to compare against afterwards. It also matters for income-qualified rebate programs.
A photo of your electrical panel
With the cover on. We are looking for the main breaker rating and whether there is a spare double-pole slot. In a lot of older Bellingham houses this is the line item that moves the price.
Rough square footage and storeys
Not for sizing — we calculate that properly — but for knowing whether we are talking about one zone, three zones, or a ducted system before we arrive.
Which rooms are uncomfortable, and when
A cold bedroom over an unheated garage in January and a west-facing living room at 4pm in August are two different fixes. Name the rooms and the season.

Still deciding what you want? The cost pages publish the ranges with their sources, and the rebate pages show which incentives are live in Bellingham and which ones cannot be used here.
