Every requirement, not the highlights

A rebate is lost on the smallest of these. Check the list against your own house before you plan around the money.

  • Household income at or below the PSE income-qualification threshold for Whatcom County
  • Household income is the combined gross income of every member aged 18 and over
  • PSE states roughly half of its customers qualify

Who files it, and how the money reaches you

Your installing contractor files it. You never see a cheque. The rebate is filed against your project and shows up as a credit on the job, which is why the contractor has to be inside the program network before the work starts.

For heat pumps the installer collects an income attestation on site. For water heaters and thermostats you complete the Efficiency Boost section of the rebate form. There is no separate application and no credit check.

PSE requires a contractor inside its network

PSE pays this class of rebate only when the work is done by a Trade Ally or Recommended Energy Professional — DIY and out-of-network installations are excluded, however good the workmanship. Ask us to confirm network status for your specific project before you count on the money, and get the answer before you sign anything.

What it stacks with

Programs that can sit on top of this one, each with its own conditions.

Stacking is a claim about program terms, not arithmetic. We build totals from the programs that have confirmed they combine, and quote anything unconfirmed as a separate line so you are never counting on a number twice.
